When the updated FTB pack is released will you try to "recover" things from your old save file?

I will be starting a fresh world. I have been playing FTB with this in mind since the beta came out. I have just been playing around with different design ideas and checking how well some of the mods work together. So I wont be losing to much with a reset.

In a word: No.

It's called a 'Beta' for a reason. I went into it expecting that it would not be forward-compatible. I've been playing around with the mods to familiarize myself with it, fully expecting and anticipating needing to make a new world once the full release is out.

That's why I have been delaying my LP, again. Then again, I've been saying that ever since 1.3.2 came out... so maybe I just have procrastination issues.

Nah, the issue is that by the time a patch is released the next one is already on the horizon.

Anyway, I'll probably be starting a new world, besides blocks/items breaking ore generation will probably also change and I really want to benefit from that Though I might use one of a few seeds I've used before (either going survival island style or going with a seed which I know has a large Meadow).

The only thing that I won't like losing is the base I built on the server I play on, but I will live. Bring on the reroll!

I am going to try to save my server's world, but if it is too wonky, then I will just reset it and cheat in all the items my players had before.

It would be a very manual process (a check-list of items?) but yes, you could probably spawn everything back in. It's something I have contemplated doing and when the time arrives I will probably "cheat" and reimburse myself for all of the stored items on the old file. Everything else can remain, regardless of how expensive or a pain in the butt it was to make.

There is one thing I will miss: A Nether Fortress 200 blocks from the portal that was made on almost perfectly-flat ground and was nice and open. Finding Wither Skeletons was a breeze on that thing.

dude... i would love to know what seed that was. floating bits or not..

Only thing I'm keeping from my old world is the mystcraft notebook. It took me over 500 chickens for feathers for descriptive books. The last age I made was Age 629.... Yea but i still dont have dense ores yet, and i don't want it though

If i cannot save my precious loot. I will be damned if i lose my skeleton spawner. I will simply use mcedit to cut out all the chunks but the one my grinder is in. If tha doesn't work...meh i would hate to have to find another skeleton spawner. Just once i would break my no spawning rule and just make 1 spawner appear so i can have my bone meals.

We got twilight forest. full of spawners in them hills. just go fetch them with the portalgun. it's actually easier to steal a spawner while it's active than it is to disable them in the first place. esp with a jetpack and a hole in the roof to fly out of.

do yourself a favor and dont try doing it with boss spawners. tryed that on my server and had to reset.

I'm going to try and use a program called mIDas Gold (takes a world file and changes block IDs based on how you configure it) to convert my IDs.

if that fails, then no issue restarting.

That would be an even better accidental grief than when someone "Avidya" brought a blaze spawner to the overworld in mindcrack FTB

Not even i would go that far... if i can't save me loot. I can still prune the chunks with the BS off and still manage to save my spawner. mweeheheheheh also with RP2 instead of portals. I can use motor frames to push it

Why transport a spawner when you can create your own? The pack should include Soul Shards. Tier 5 spawners are OP.

I run a small FTB server with some very close friends. We've established ourselves pretty well in our current world, but I think a fresh start would be awesome. I just need convince everyone else that its needed.

I'll probably reset, and re-create my base block for block in creative, NEI back my resources and carry on like nothing happened

I've thought about tossing myself a wand of excavation or two when starting out. Still not sure if I'm actually going to do it or not though.

The whole setup though, no. Excessive use of forestry and BC pipes to provide power for everything has left my world feeling a little sluggish, definitely need to use smaller methods of power generation.

look on the bright side. With RP2 we no longer need the Facades to prevent our pipes from converging and exploding when you use conductive pipes. we can start using panels.
