Well, the title pretty much says it all. When I try to launch a pack I've downloaded but never played before, right before it would normally start the game the launcher suddenly closes, looking like the game is about to appear, but then nothing happens. I've tried leaving it for an hour, still no activity. My launcher is fully updated.

First, make sure you have the launcher set to re-open when minecraft closes, and have the console set to show (both under the Options). Next, run a pack that is exiting out on you. Once the launcher reopens, go to the console and click "post my log to pastebin.com", and post the link it makes here.

Indeed it is. Thank you very much.

Hm. The only thing that looks a little out of place is you're using a slightly older version of Java (well, that and the fact Java is throwing a null pointer exception, but I don't see a cause for that immediately). Can you please try updating your Java? First uninstall all versions of Java through 'Add/Remove Programs' on your Control Panel, then reboot your computer. Then install Java 1.7.0_51 x64 from here:

I just checked the rules, could someone tell me where to find the ones about bumping? Because I can't find them... I think this is still probably breaking them though, sorry.

Let's start from scratch by deleting everything first. If you have a world save then copy it to a another location then follow the steps below.

1. Backup your world save if you have one
2. Delete the minecraft folder from the desktop
3. Delete the ftb launcher folder from roaming
4. Download java from the link here and save it to the desktop. Now download javara from here and run it to remove java then reboot. Now install the one you downloaded and reboot again.
5. Create a folder on the desktop and name it FTB
6. Download the ftb launcher exe from here and save it to the FTB folder you created on the desktop
7. Run the launcher and make sure that the install path is set to the folder you created
8. Download the modpack

Let me know how you get on.
