I'd also look into Thaumic Energistics ;)

The bronze age is a waste of time and effort though :p

And what do you mean about the x-mod compat.?
Why specifically the bronze age? Its the favorite tier for many people (steam is fun!). Have you tried it in the last year or so?

Problem 1: Reika consistently implements code to block or hinder intended functionality of other mods. For instance, MFR has a router block that is supposed to interact with any slot of other blocks. Recently (yesterday?) Reika implemented code to block this for his extractor. He doesn't want the MFR block to function properly, as intended, with his block.

The "proper" way to handle this would have been to just say "who cares" about the router. Cross-mod issues aren't a specific modder's concern. But he doesn't like it, so out it goes. (I wonder how he'd feel if all the various modders decided to block his extractor-dusts from cooking properly in their furnaces).

Problem 2: As a modpack maker, you are not allowed to modify 99.9% of his mods to make them function harmoniously with other mods. MineTweaker is almost outlawed outright. Think the RoC extractor should be twice as expensive in resources so that people might try a pulverizer before "earning" it? Too bad. 5x output of all ores very quickly for everyone. Sucks to be the pulverizer.

The mods can be fun, and I generally recommend people try them out for fun, but the ethics are hypocritical and I wouldn't ever bother incorporating them to a public pack.

I don't see the use for it. The things I tend to automate are those things that are time-consuming, multistep process that I would need to carry out either frequently, or spend about an hour doing them in bulk every so often. Most Thaumcraft stuff is either easy to do in bulk, or is a one-off piece of effort that I don't mind doing manually.

Besides, as much as I like the convenience of automation, I dislike the idea of getting AE to run Thaumcraft stuff with little effort needed. If you are going to interface between technology and the arcane, you should at least be made to think about it and work around the difficulties.

So maybe like a thaumic converter needed?
E.g. Place warded jar on top of converter, converter draws potentia or machina or something from a nearby jar, or the system, and then the converter will convert the essentia into data or the data into essentia, and put the essentia into the jar on top?

Oh I just hate the bronze age as it is what you have to do before you can get a generator and start on IC2 stuff. I grew to love Gregtech in 1.4, and how that worked. I can overlook the recipes changes, I can overlook the new stuff (but use it 'cus it's cool), but I can't overlook the fact that I need an absurd amount of bronze to do things I shouldn't need to do. I don't really like the circuit recipes either, which is why in my pack "The 95 Pack" I use Mekanism circuits as an OreDict. for IC2 circuits and atomic cores for advanced circuits (at least it isn't cheap for advanced circuits).

As for Reika, to my understanding there is nothing stopping me using NEI to prevent stuff from showing there, so if people want to use machines from his mods, they have to know the mod/read up on it. :P
But not knowing anything about MFR sorting (I don't see the point in it) I can't really comment on it. But as a mod-dev I may not want other mods to interact with my mods' stuff as I would want them to use my own stuff... I mean, I wouldn't mind other power sources e.g. RF, but I wouldn't want an itemduct to connect, I would want my own pipes to be used. I spent time coding those pipes, I wouldn't want another mod to take the limelight away from my pipes :P

But in all seriousness, Minetweaker is your friend. Unless the license of a mod prohibits it *cough cough Reika*, you can edit all the recipes to your taste. Especially if you're making a pack, you shouldn't be upset about default recipes. Heck, make 'em use the Blood Altar for everything. :p

I'm sure I have seen that somewhere...

But nah, I like Jaded's Blood and what you can do with it, but I see the blood altar as a more magical thing. How to get living rock (from Botania) in a world without Botania world gen? Put cobble in the Blood Altar! How to get a lava crystal easily? Put fire shard cluster in the blood altar.... How to get an aura node, silver wood log in the blood altar...
But I will admit, the wood planks thing is a little ridiculous :P Don't get me wrong, it's a cool idea, it just takes that little bit extra time, which is a bit meh.
I never looked into your Jaded's Blood folder, and I am still worried about what I might find there :P

I actually do most of the work in Running Red with Modtweaker, as Jaded's Blood had a nasty bug where it would not register any tiers. So yeah. Feel free to look into config/minetweaker/BloodAltar.cfg. :P
And the Wood thing gets alleviated in the Second Set.

Yeah, I know, it's just a PITA when you start :P
And Minalien told me the bug was on her part, she forgot to change the code for the altar tier to:
"altarTier": <x>,
on the wiki :P

Actually, quite frankly, if you can't get living rock from Botania in a world without it's world gen... go apply some bonemeal to grass. Can't get into Botania without it's flowers actually, but you can bonemeal for them.

As for which I'd rather see... none of this interest me on paper. Pure magic? Pass. Pure Tech? Yeah, no. A mix of both? What, like Monster, or Ultimate, or every other "make ALL THE THINGS!" modpack? Why bother?
A focused modpack with tech and magic? Some may cite BnB or others Epic Craft, but cut the grind from them and neither is very interesting on their own merits. BnB failed to impress me as it was barely playable to me; dying a lot early game may make sense, but it sure as hell isn't fun to lose everything for the 50th time before you can even get a smeltery up and running! Epic Craft? Sounds great on paper; gotta actually build all the things to get the things you actually want. Falls short to me. Why? I hate Hunger Overhaul on default configs, and no pack with it seems to edit them. And it also has Spice of Life, a nice mod, but combined with HO? Inconceivable. For someone who wants to not be running a farm-ville simulator in Minecraft, that is. And TiCO Tweaks? Sweet, me likey now. But nerfing vanilla tools? No, bad modpack maker! Bad! *sprays water bottle*

In the end, I don't really care about what you are offering. Tough modpacks are more interesting then the "build ALL THE THINGS" modpacks, but then we have to define difficult in a way that leaves things usable.
I'd cut TiCO, but as much as I say I don't like it, those Slime Islands, man. I hated them at first, but now I want them. The drying rack? Godly. And the really early base defenses? Oh yeah. Making watches from aluminum brass instead of gold(which I rarely use but when I need it, it's more valuable then diamonds)? Yes please! The tools?
...No. Not even frying pans these days(and I love those frying pans!).

Dr Zhark's mocreatures is allowed in modpacks now. its always been the best of its breed of mod. I think it would fit into any pack, unless it was some kind of wasteland themed one.

Mo' Creatures, as nice as it is, doesn't fit into some packs. For example, imagine Mo' Creatures in Crash Landing. You wonder around, see a few snakes (fine, seems legit) then BAM something that makes the world look like it is able to be habitable :P
