What way is best to play with a controller?

I'm trying to play a FTB modpack via twitch with a xbox one controller. Whats the best way in accomplishing this? I've seen that there is some mods for controller support or something like that? I've also seen some people saying going through steam controller binding thing. What's the best way?

I personally play mouse and keyboard, but am trying to help someone who doesn't want to play with M&K
