Hey everyone, I am sort of a rookie to FTB and still learning the ins/outs of all the different mods. Currently playing on a Monster server and I cannot create Dark Iron Ingots. Everything I have read talks about the recipe to use the Diamond Block/TNT method with Wrath Igniter; however, I am unable to craft the Craftpacket. So I curious of how I create Dark Iron Ingots when I can't make it using the Wrath Igniter method?

I see the Dark Iron Ore but I am unable to smelt it and cannot find any information on the net regarding it at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, dark iron ore spawns fairly rarely very close to bedrock. I find it difficult to find while mining manually but a large quarry should net you plenty.

To process it you should try lacerating it. Look in NEI for the lacerator, craft it and mount one on a socket. Place an inventory behind the socket and a FZ barrel in front of the lacerator. Put all your dark iron in that barrel and supply the lacerator with charge and it should start chewing through the ore. You can smelt the output in a slag furnace, or refine it in a mixer for added yield. If you want to you can run it through the whole FZ ore processing line for ~x3.8 ingot per ore.

The dark iron ore should be possible to smelt directly (just tested with Induction Furnace and Redstone Furnace in Monster 1.0.9) to give you one ingot per ore. If this isn't possible, there might be some configuration problem on the server.

The ore can also be processed in a Rotary Craft grinder to triple the ores (you get dark iron flakes), then use those with Mimichite to get 6x ingots (two ingots from each flake). You can also use mimichite directly with the ores to get two ingots per.

I always find it close to bedrock. Hard to find in caves unless they go down to bedrock
