I made my first Iridium Plate today and I could go for the Matter Fabricator, the Energy Control Circuits can be made with Platinum which I have 8 of, problem is I only have 16 Advanced Solar Panels and they power all the machines and a quarry, I have 3 MFSU's but they're slow to fill.
Since I can't get the full scope of the mods, I was wondering if there's something I should be wasting the Iridium on, I checked recipes and I think the Matter Fabricator is the best bet even if it will take 24 hours to make anything.
I'm playing on Mindcrack v7.

yea matter favricator is best bet, also don't restrict yourself to solar energy, nuclear energy is particulary good...

I personally couldn't live without quantum boots and pants - fall damage protection, extra speed, extra jump height. I'd even build them before considering a massfab. Other than that, definitely work on a more powerful energy source. You wouldn't be able to power a massfab at any reasonable rate anyway - I'd recommend waiting with that until filling an MFSU on demand is not an issue for you.

Alright then, I'll check nuclear energy and the quantum boots and pants, thanks for the help

With the power generation he has available, he would more likely get more iridium faster by mining than by fabricating it.

I didn't play a lot of mindcrack, but my first strip mine got me like 4 or 5 iridium in less than an hour, that is probably just luck but a smart strip mine in Mindcrack might even be faster then the massfab in DW20

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
You'll want some serious power generation before considering a matterfab- solars don't cut it for a reasonable amount of UU matter.

Either build a reactor (though you need urainium if you want to upgrade said solars), or a boiler (either turbine, or magma crucible+geo/thermal generator).

You can centrifuge platinum to get iridium.
Gregtech considers platinum equal to shiny dust/ingot from thermal expansion- so you can smelt it with rich slag.
(if you take this route, you need about 40 ore blocks per iridium)

Don't listen to everyone saying you can't make due with solar power. You just have to play it smart and be a little patient. When I made my M.fab, was only running with about 6 advanced solars. The trick is, when you're using your machine room, disconnect the cable to your matter fab or throttle it's input with a bat box or an MFE so it's not hogging your power. You can load it up with tons of scrap, reconnect it to the main lines and go off mining or if you're on a server you can let it run while you're not playing. Even in single player, you could just make a safe afk room and let it run while you sleep.

However, since you have platinum bars already, you can use them in an induction smelter with rich slag to multiply themselves and then centrifuge the dust for more iridium. If you have a couple miners or a quarry going, this will be a much faster way to make iridium if you don't have something heavy duty like a nuclear reactor powering your matter fab. First priority is going to be to upgrade some of those to hybrid solars to speed things up.

You could also just save your UU matter and go for an ultimate solar as soon as you have a stack of Iridium bars from the induction smelter.
