It's kind of funny when people get pissed off when their favorite little exploit is removed
And then to find that the mod that adds it is one that provides you with boss ass and possibly a bit broken tools.

It's like finding the girl of your dreams who is incredibly hot, awesome personality, likes everything you do only to find out she has herpies...

I was expecting a -snip- joke there.

Personally, I find it more annoying due to the fact that it limits my ability to get back to where I died and survive there (well at least in the early stage of the game)

What are you talking about?
All i see is perfectly balanced tools

At stone level you can make a hammer that lets you outclass quarries, arcane bores and turtles. And they can take silk touch and fortune that levels exponentially as you mine.
On top of all that you repair it with cobble.
It's probably not horribly broken but the tools let you do a lot of quick mining. If you don't mind manual labor you NEVER need quarries to strip mine.

Best starter configuration is Flint Head, paper bindings and a blue slime handles green if you can get it. Drop one piece of lapis and you have a neat tool.

One piece of lapis wont do much in terms of Fortune?

And uh, well yeah, the whole point of a quarry to me is that i can do other things while it mines

One piece of lapis will grow to two, after enough uses. And then three. And then four.

It's completely unnecessary to slap on more lapis than you need to, although it takes quite a bit for it to multiply. (Especially on tools you don't use often)

Outclass a quarry? What are you talking about? Are you saying a tool that mines in a 3x3 area is over powered but a quarry is not? It's useful, not imbalanced.

And you need a tool forge to make to make it, so...

I know I built a tool forge before I even had a full set of armor. It's one of the first things I built. I built a stone hammer and excavator. I took the tool forge with me while mining, and repaired my tools as needed. Since it had stonebound, it got quite fast, and was much faster than any other mining methods I have. I cleared out a 20x20 area all the way down to y30 with just my stone tools. I only just recently upgraded to a steel/cobalt hammer. It has a mining speed of 10, and doesn't need cobalt to repair. :) Since steel can mine cobalt and ardite?!? I can mine anything. I dropped a silky jewel on it to feed the GT grinder, and still have quite a few open spots.

I will say the hunger thing is a bit annoying, but with the berry bushes everywhere in the overworld, it's not too difficult to fill a hunger bar.

Don't you need a bunch (three blocks, so 27 ingots) of iron to make the upgraded tool table, in order to craft that 3x3 hammer?

Keep in mind that you can use copper instead. It's much easier to get 36 copper than 36 iron. It's even faster to do it with bronze, if you find enough tin.

Yeah, you do know how TiC luck works right? On top of enchanting the tool with Fortune every time you proc fortune on an ore it has a chance of adding extra lapis essentially upgrading it as you mine for free.
Of course you will load it with lapis to the point you get fortune 1 but you can level it from there on.
Then again that hammer is way outclassed by that 3x3 drill dartcraft added.
