For magic I think it's thaumcraft, I know by its self other younger magic mods beat it but none can match the level of addon support TC4 has. Reserched every thing? No you haven't there's still som brain there that's unwarped here shove some forbidden magic down you!
It also has a esthetic I like.

For tech, while its not my go to and I very seldom use it. RotaryCraft is my favorite, it gives you so many opportunities to use that grey matter. Sure it takes a bit of thinking but its an incredibly powerful tech mod. Just wish its item logistics system was as robust as say EIO and Thermal Dynamics.
I like it because it doesn't assume I am a window licking mouth breather and doesn't lead you by the hand.
It just gives you a basic primer and lets you go.
Other tech mods gets the job done better in most circumstances but RoC makes me feel clever on top of that.
The mod also made me create a spreadsheet of all things...

If I had to pick just one, it'd have to be Botania.

Although Thaumcraft (with addons) and Rotarycraft (although i don't get to play with it too much) are close behind.

Railcraft... made me go modded
Buildcraft... still best for automation (gates ftw)
Logistic Pipes... still best for logistics
Buildcraft worse Automation possible These days too much lag from the pipes

Buildcraft pipes certainly require the most THOUGHT out of any of the pipes avaible imo. They also tend to suffer in some asthetic builds. as they can only carry one thing (+4 redstone signals) per block space. Although you can get around this partially with facades.

I could have understood if you said that they are the worst due to needing the most thought, but lag? I don't usually run into lag with them. Maybe if you spill the vicinity of several 64k me drives out in quick succession, which is likely very difficult.

Restarting fixes It but i Dont want to restart my game every 30 minutes

I've done some rather extreme things with BC pipes and the only lag they caused is when I messed up and caused thousands of items to dump everywhere. If anything that's your computer being unable to handle some minor rendering. That rendering won't impact servers.

A server doesn't give a crap about rendering only the client and even then it is minimal as far as I am aware, unless someone else has other data from recent versions.

Sounds like a memory leak that is probably not related to buildcraft, I have no problem with buildcraft and I use its pipes for almost anything

Im not using buildcraft at all on this Server
Heard the giant Rubber trees could be causing lags but removing didnt work either

A lot of the classic pipe performance issues have been addressed in BC 7.x. They have also done a bit of work on the Builder as well.

As for which item transport system I prefer, I would say it depends on the application. Ultimately I use a combination of item transport technology depending on my application. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

I suggest trying the newest versions. You would be surprised at the amount of lag you DO NOT get from BC. Everyone is quick to blame BC pipes for lag but I don't see it AT ALL anymore, not even an FPS hit. I've done some extreme creative testing using A TON of pipes of all varieties and never had what I would deem significant FPS hit and 0 TPS hit.

Have you tried BuildCraft Lists? Especially the ones in the up-and-coming 7.1 alpha.

Also, BuildCraft item rendering also got a boost in BC7. I've had as many as 5000 unique items rendering in pipes while still playable (granted, at 5000 items you DO need a ""high-end"" GPU, like my GTX 960; a toaster won't handle that many rendering) as I was testing just yesterday. We're not the type to sacrifice gameplay for performance, and the ability to see pipes as they travel is crucial.
