So I get that the Thermionic Fabricator is necessary for some things, but there are some wax casts that don't make sense to me. What is the point of using a wax cast to make things like a block of metal or diamond or making armor?

I get that maybe in the case of a block it's an alternative to the compressor (which is a whole other jar of crazy, why can't I craft ingot blocks by hand, that's so dumb) but what about the armor? Why bother heating up the fabricator and making a wax cast when it costs the exact same amount of raw materials for the end product?

Because you're turning nine different chunks of metal into a seemless massive block of the same metal. It's designed to simulate a bit more logic behind as much.

That aside, I don't know about wax casts, but I'm sure someone else will respond shortly about as much.

I honestly have wondered the same thing. I even tested and can confirm it uses sticks and iron just like a crafting table. I cannot see why you would do this at all...

The wax casts I think are supposed to use slightly less material.
Also, I believe I heard once that, in vanilla Extra Bees, the only way to process the metal you get from bees is to melt it in a thermionic fabricator.

It depends on what you want to craft. Some things use exactly the same amount of material like the normal recipe, others are a little bit cheaper. All in all the casts are completely unnecessary.

Yeah, I heard that this was the actual reason for them to exist.

As someone that avoids industrial craft, the wax casts are crucial, I have to use them to make things such as the diamond block that I need to make a drawplate and iron blocks to make anvils.

Well, there's an interesting use for them; A way to make blocks with MJ, rather then EU.

I hadn't considered the use of turning bee products into usable items... I'll have to test that, but that could be a great alternative use to an implosion compressor. Maybe... I've never used an implosion compressor. To the testing world!

... There are metal and other mineral bees, ya know.

Also, using the Thermionic Fabricator as an alternative to the implosion compressor is actually a very good idea... Assuming the dusts can be melted into liquids, at any rate.

if you've got the gear molds, that shows the highest improvement in cost.

this I can agree with this.

But over all the casts are a bit Meh. I thnk what would be nice is when they liquid metal mod gets some legs. If you could pump out your extra unused molten metals and store them or just pull as needed from takes the whole casting thing would give some new life beucas those .5 ignots can add up if you have a way to save them.

Not to mention, having a giant tank of molten iron would be amazing. And probably quite convenient for transport, too.

You need casts to make stained glass. You can also make gears with less metal consumed - but the saving is less than one block per gear, so it only shows if you make several at once. Armor, tools, and blocks use the same amount as crafting manually.

For an exploity bonus, craft gears in the fabricator, and use an uncrafting table to get the full amount of metal back. Turn MJ and wax into diamonds.
