Trying to automate production of charcoal from tree farm, been at it for a month. Still have not figured out the most efficient way to use a filter.[DOUBLEPOST=1369512686][/DOUBLEPOST]Also forgot to mention "what are the limitations of a pneumatic tube"

I dont really understand your question, filters can be used to either allow certain items to go through it, or to pull stacks of items and/or specific items from a chest.

And pneumatic tubes can have infinite items, but its really how much can your computer/minecraft handle.

What I mean is what can the pneumatic/filters can output to, or input from. I read in the wiki where pneumatic tubes dont play well with BC machines. What does that mean.
Also previous versions of my charcoal auto production sometimes when my filter is between machines it does not transfer the prodution at all or well to another machine.

Example. auto crafting table under filter sending planks, filter does not send planks correctly to furnace.
reason i did that so i dont spill my planks.

If that makes sense thats what i am triegn to find out, how are filters compatible machines and what machines are they compatible with

i use filter to pull out charcoal from induction furnace. filters other alike rp machines, follow same rules as BC wooden transport pipe, except for forestry machines, since they have different logic for BC pipes.

so filters can only pull out of of other mod machines but not output anything unless its a container. so i got to switch to bc pipes to continue productions

no its all about facing. As much as I complain about rp2 being laggy I do this because its the best at handling this stuff. I wish I could use it in my server enviroment. If you are already using rp2 then go ahead and use it. To pull from a furnace it needs to be on the side of a furnace. Make sure you use a screw driver to have the right side facing the furnace. Use a timer of course and it will pull out only cooked stuff. You do not need bc to automate production. I have been forcing myself to avoid rp2 because I had a hunch should wouldnt make the 1.5.x update. I was right so far. But if ur still using 1.4.7 I would totally stick with rp2 tubes and filters.

Ok but i want to push from filter to furnace bottom side, and it doesnt like it.. I realised in creative i should just use a pneumatic tube to the furnace instead

A creative test world is the easiest way to answer all questions "can machine X pull from side Y of inventory Z? There are many corner cases, especially when it comes to inter-mod interactions. Testing it yourself is much faster and much more reliable than coming to the forums with every question.

To answer your original post, a filter can not pull the crafted items out of an automatic crafting table. You can use either wooden pipes, or use the XYcraft fabricator - that should work with a filter.

ahh ok, and sorry about that. i am trying to be more involved in the forums as there is alot of stuff here that give me great ideas
