Wait what? Ruby isn't a memory whore at all...the hardware today is so powerful that performance usually (there are exceptions) doesn't matter

Also the whole coding languages thing is something that eventually boils down to opinion. I can name many arguments that do this. Coffeescript vs Javascript, Rails vs PHP, Sass vs Less, to name just a few.

Very true, although some can be empirically better than others because of what they allow you to do and how easy it is to do it. Which is provided by statistics
