The very definition of "unbalanced". Far too much randomness - sometimes the game is unplayable, sometimes it takes away a major part of the challenge.Oh but the rewards. That sweet iron hoe 5 mintues into the game. Oh my sides.

To each his own. I wouldn't say it takes away a major part as you're still limited to 251(?) uses of the hoe which actually do run out fairly fast with the number of crops you might need to plant. As well as processing and moving forward in mining. The very definition of "unbalanced". Not quite. Only finding diamonds would allow you to skip TiC altogether.Yea, a village, especially in magic farm, is very imbalancing. And yet, Jaded actually considers a village to be perfectly reasonable, as an "easy" start.
Hint: If you find thamium ingots, or iron ingots, you can make a vanilla pick and avoid all of TiC. And the food that is just there for the taking ...

With a vanilla iron pick, you can mine vanilla diamonds.
And finding iron ingots in a smithy chest means you can make a vanilla iron pick.
(OK, I am basing that off finding thaumium ingots and making a thaumium pick. Have not tested iron ingots directly.)
