I've been having this problem in my base where nearby chunks aren't loading visibly, so they're just appearing as grey areas until I run into them, at which point the view loads instantly. Does anybody know what is causing this and how I can fix it? I haven't made any changes to the RAM allocation for FTB, so maybe it's too low. This only started happening after I did a bunch of work on my base (mainly adding Basalt Brick slabs), so I'm not sure if there is an issue with new blocks. I doubt it.

Another possibility is that I have a chunk loader right in the middle of my base to keep my fuel coming in, and that chunk is always fine. Would removing the chunk loader possibly solve the problem?

I also have Optifine installed, if that is relevant. I have played around with the settings but can't find anything that would remedy this (or cause it).

No, removing it would probably only make it worse. I'd recommend cranking the Chunk Loader from 1 chunk to 10.

Hmm, that might be worth a shot I guess. I'd prefer to avoid loading more chunks as my laptop is struggling already, but if it solves the problem and frames are still OK I'll tick to that.

Any other advice is welcome.
