Water not flowing

Okay so I started to do a lp the direwolf pack and it seemswater does not flow properly I must relog for it to flow which is really annoying. It causes me to die from drowning and such because I don't know if the water if flowing on me or not how may I fix this?

Are you by any chance using Optifine?

I'm using optifine why?

Try disabling it and see if the problem happens even without it.
I recall reading somewhere about a similar problem where Optifine was the cause.

You also may need to update Forge. Thats what worked for me.

I know this is an older thread, but I wasn't able to find anything similar, and I'm having the same problem. Water doesn't flow at all, instead I place a block of water and it sits there hovering, like slime. I cannot fill the Thaumcraft cauldron, nor turn lava to obsidian, etc. I'm using the launcher and FTB Unleashed, which doesn't look like it includes Optifine. Also, I've updated Forge to no avail. Any other suggestions?
