Water Mills - Impossible to make?

Hey all,

After being through so many downstrikes while discovering how to make a water mill with the gregtech recipe, I tried to actually make it in single player creative.

for some reason, I can NOT make a Water Mill in any way, not the ic2 recipe OR the GregTech recipe. Is this a known issue?

You need to make it in the assembling machine in the recent versions of the modpack with GregTech. It requires 4 Aluminum plates and a generator. That recipe in an assembling machine makes 2 water mills. Make sure you power the assembling machine as well.

Edit: It also takes 320 seconds to make. Which is just over 5 minutes.

Isn't, according to the Gregtech recipe itself, supposed to be made in a crafting table with 4 alluminium plates/ingots? And what happened with the IC2 recipe?

Where are you getting the GregTech recipe from? Check NEI and it will tell you the one that will work. The IC2 one is replaced by the GregTech one. GregTech changes or replaces a lot of IC2 recipes. What modpack and version are you using?

Ultimate modpack, latest version. Both that, and the wiki, says that the crafting-table recipe is 1 generator surrounded by 4 alluminium ingots, and as well it says that the Ic2 recipe from 4 wood planks, 4 sticks and 1 generator is STILL active.

That sounds strange. The more recent updates for GregTech moved a lot of the recipes to the assembling machine. Is this a fresh install or an upgraded pack/world. Did you mess with the configs any? When I installed a fresh copy of Ultimate 1.1.2 it showed the recipe NEI mentioned earlier in the assembling machine. When I disabled GregTech NEI gave me the second recipe you mentioned, the sticks and planks around the generator.

When you start Ultimate go to the mods button on the start screen and see which version of GregTech it says you have.

Edit: The wikis are almost all out of date with the recent changes to GregTech.

Hopefully someone may have an idea why this is happening. Until then I suggest testing to see if you can make it in the assembling machine with the recipe I mentioned.

You might also want to follow this guide exactly to reinstall FTB just to make sure it downloaded properly and everything. If that does not fix the NEI problem please post your console log in debug mode to pastebin.com and link it here. Here is the guide for that if needed.

Yes it works with the machine. It's just so odd that the client (and the wiki, still) also shows the other two oppurtunities.
