Hi, I am new to Minecraft, only been playing for a couple months, and just been here on FTB for less then a week. And, I wanted to know if there is away to start my own Mod pack? I want to use say 1.5.1 or 1.5.2 MC. How would I go about doing that? is there a basically a start pack that just has the basic MC 1.5.2 with some of FTB basic mods? where I can add together my own mods I want in the pack?

PS is there a great site to walk through the best way to go to make my own Mod?

Well you can just get one of the updated packs like the new world pack and add mods to it. As for modding, you don't seem like you know any java skills so, that would be a no. but try looking up 'MCreator' and 'linkseyi's Modmaker' in google and you can make a simple mod with those.

There are several resources you can use to be able to get a mod pack put up on the FTB Launcher. However, before we begin, I want to be clear on a few things:

1) Is this a mod pack you wish to widely distribute, or is this something you just want to play by yourself in SSP? If the former, then yes, you want to make a Mod Pack. If the latter, then you just need to use MultiMC, download the mods yourself, and create it yourself. Much easier to make a MultiMC Instance than make a Mod Pack.

2) IF you have decided that this is something you wish to share with everyone, then you'll need to do a bit of research. I'd suggest starting with the Guidelines. This will give you an idea of what you are setting yourself up for.

3) Have fun! Regardless on if you are making a mod pack to distribute, or just creating an MMC Instance to play with, don't forget that the whole point here is to have fun.

Will Multimc work with a FTB based server?
As long as it has the same mods in the instance? Absolutely!

I'll also go ahead and plug my own Mod Pack which is downloadable from the FTB Server and is 1.5.2. It's a fairly minimalistic mod pack designed for ease of use and getting involved in. I'd wait for tomorrow to start it, though. There's a fairly major update being pushed right now. And there will be another update going out next saturday which contains updates for Railcraft, Forestry, and Applied Energistics. But after that, the mod authors are probably going to change gears to MC 1.6 as it releases next week, so it should be fairly stable until the mods start updating for 1.6. Then I'm going to get REALLY busy.
