Wand Focus: Excavation skipping ore progression?

With this wand focus from TC4 you can skip ore progression entirely, especially when you're playing on FTB: Monster. (We use a modded version with a custom ore progression).

For this reason, it's been banned from my server, which means I can't make an Arcane Bore.

Is there any way to limit what the focus can mine in some way? A config option or a makeshift solution of some kind? Is there a way to make it only mine only blocks that aren't ores (kinda like a normal dig spell from Ars Magica 2)?

Alternatively, is there a way to simply prevent the wand focus from being used on a wand and only being usable in the Arcane Bore?

Use MineTweaker or whatever it's called to edit the recipe to require whatever the highest tier is.

Can't. Wand Focus is a Thaumcraft 4 item and the Thaumcraft 4 recipes aren't editable with MineTweaker yet.

I suspected as much, since it uses a different crafting method. But, I never actually tried it.

What is the ore progression? I presume diamond is the highest, since the Bore is allowed.

Well, it's full of mod items so we actually made the vanilla tools nigh-useless at mining (basically they can mine stone and that's it). Tinkers tools are what we progress through, and Cobalt is our highest possible ore.

How many players do you have on the server? There is a very sloppy way to do it. It is the only way I can think of, though. Since, there is no actual config for it.

You can set up command blocks that clear each player's inventory of the Focus, and then when they reach Cobalt (or whatever you want), you disable the command block for that player.
