Wait for Unleashed 1.6 or play Tech world 2

Hey.

I am here to ask you wether i should wait for the 1.6 version of the Unleashed pack to come out or play the Tech World 2 mod pack.

Background information:

In 1.4.7 i was having a lot of fun with some friends on a Mindcrack server but i fear Mindcrack wont recieve an update in the closer future... So i decided to take one of these packs.

What would you say is closest to Mindcrack and what are the main differences between those two packs?
I will probably add Gregtech to the pack i will play in if me and my friends decide to rent a server ourself. If not, we will probably go without Gregtech.

I don't know anything about mindcrack, but is there any reason you can't just start a world in tech world 2 or some other pack and poke around to see how you like it? Maybe even turn in cheats so you can skip all the grinding and just try to set up a basic base and see what's new and what's missing, and then, once the unleashed replacement comes out, check that out as well, and *then* decide which is closer to what you want, and figure out if there are any mods you can add/remove to tweak it. As I understand it, adding mods to a pack is much easier now (I'm sure someone can post a link on how that works).

There is not going to be an update to Mindcrack unless the people on the Mindcrack server want to use FTB again. They are currently enjoying vanilla too much. As for which pack is close to Mindcrack according to Slowpoke, in a recent stream, there will be packs that include GregTech soon (tm). I'm not sure when Monster, Unleashed's replacement, is still in testing and bugs and issues are being ironed out. I kind of agree with Larmonade that you should look at the mod list and find one you might enjoy.

Do note that GregTech has undergone some major changes. There is now an entire new 'age', bronze age, before you can even start the normal IC2 machines. The bronze machines are the precursor of the IC2 machines. There is also now tools that you must craft if you wish to make even basic vanilla items, see the link about the bronze age. An iron pickaxe requires you to craft a hammer and a file. I do not believe that either of those are able to be disabled. The requirement that you must use a saw to get the normal 4 planks of wood instead of two is however. I suggest reading about these changes in the wiki link and watching some videos about the changes to GregTech that were made between now and 1.4.7 Good luck.

Play Techworld 2 as Unleashed may be going the same way as the Ultimate pack. (That is a really big "may" though).
Just do what's fun.

Thanks lavarthan for the tip with the new Gregtech features. Didnt notice that so far but generally i like the idea of making the game more difficult

I will probably test both of the packs then and decide after that. Also let's see wether there is Gregtech implementation in one of them in the near future. I will probably go for the one that adds Gregtech first if i like both.

In my opinion gregtech was a great mod in the 1.4.7 packs but lately I think it has gone a bit too far
