Well I have a village next to my base that is in an ocean so I built some walkways and light the place up.. Came back recently to trade for some emeralds and all my villagers were gone. Not 1 single villager left..

I had the place well light so im guessing they either drowned or mobs swam to them. So I build a floor for the whole village and put fences around the whole place. Then I borrowed my friends portal gun and nabbed to villagers from my other village and tossed them into the ghost town village.

Well Its been a while now and they aint making no big nose babies.. I even tried locking them into the same house and no luck..

Any ideas?
Thanks

I got them to breed I made another building next to the others with 25 doors and came back to the village after a few minutes and now I have 7 already. I started with 2 villagers so its going pretty quick.

One thing this is a natural village that I just added another building to. I am finding its a pain to try to find all the villagers through all the scatered small huts.. Can I tear down the natural spawned huts and the farms and just build my own buildings like the 1 i added to the village ? Would that mess anything up? Thanks

(large building with tons of doors is what I added of course) So can I remove the rest of the buildings and just replace them with more of the large building i built? I would leave the bee keepers place and the tower i think tho

You can remove the other houses.
For villagers each door counts as a house.
I also think villagers only breed during daytime.

yes you can remove all the old huts & rebuild as you need, I have build villages from nothing building my self & curing 2 infected villager zombies, so build away & you have the key to villager breeding, one other thing I found if you build a 3 lvl apartment block villagers seem to like the top floor most, have fun & you may well get a golum spawn at around 10 villager, its not set in stone but higher chance around that number, as to lighting 1 torch every 4 block will keep mobs out, any less there is a small chance of mobs, late evening is when they pair off & breed over MC night, try keep one big roomy house that lot will go into to improve to chances, last point dont be afraid to cull out some of the villagers that have really bad trades or one you just dont need, for me while at start TC & bee keepers are what I need most, after that its any good traders or delete the village, soon we will all need village breeding skills..mystcraft..

if you only care about breeding villagers to trade with them, try this setup, it's very effective especially if you kickstart it with a handful of villagers

Villagers vanishing can be common. I locked away some villagers in two houses. 6 in one house, 3 in another. Came back a few days later to raid the village for some supplies, the house with 6 in was empty. Still all blocked up, all perfectly lit up, etc.
What was annoying is that one of the villagers was a TC3 wizard, and another was a beekeeper. I blame the wizard, he must have had a portable hole...

I hope when I'm ready to deal with the village, my other villagers are still there. Not checked up on them for a while...

Put on some Barry Manalow, have some candles set up around a nice table of pork and potatoes. Hire Issac Hays's spirit to help and soon those villagers will be up for massive gyration!
