Title says it all. I'm looking for a hammer that lasts as long as possible, but being as fast as it can go. I'm not all that smart when it comes to Tinker's, and I really need some help because i'm stumped. Don't worry about me not having enough materials, because believe me, I have them all XD.
Any recommendations?
Please include; what material is used(such as cobalt head, flint rod, etc.), what modifiers would increase it to last long\increase the speed, and the reason why you believe the hammer is worth making.
Thanks in advance, if you take the time to reply!
EDIT: I'm using the UNLEASHED modpack!

Others will disagree, but my standard issue hammer is:

Manyullyn handle
Cobalt head
Obsidian plate
Thaumium plate

This gives you the highest base mining speed, highest handle modifier, thaumic ability (+1 modifier slot) and reinforced III (reduces the rate at which the tool takes damage).

Then I add:
1 gold block + 1 diamond
1 Nether star (both of these things add another modifier slot, you should have a total of 6 after these)

After this, I add:
1 ball of moss (auto-repair)
450 lapis lazuli (this is one modifier slot and it gives you fortune III enchantment for mining, looting III on mobs and luck to get those rare drops)

then the rest is all redstone to max out the speed.

Wow, literally sounds like a pretty fast\durable hammer. I'm most likely going to making that right now. Is there a reason why people would happen to disagree, like you said? I've tried doing research, and a lot of people recommend using one paper plate because of the extra mod.
Thanks for responding ^^

A few extra points in addition to this:

- If you use RF, and keep a capacitor in your hotbar, the tool life question can become moot.

- If you're going down that route, replace the cobalt, obsidian and manyullyn with paper, the Flux takes the place of the moss in the current setup, and the redstone pushes it FAR beyond the one above (which is good if you don't want to deal with RF).

- You could also add slik touch, rather than fortune, depending on your preferred processing method. This also helps to prevent things like redstone and lapis clogging your inventory while mining.

Wait - Paper head is supposed to be better then Cobalt? That can't be right ...

I may be messing up with the mining levels there (unless you aren't wanting to mine nether ores, and a diamond will add what you need to). The modifier provided by paper, with redstone on it outstrips the speed gain by cobalt in pretty much all parts.

Well Paper plates + thaumium rod should give you 2 additional modifiers. And as far as I can remember (didn't use TiCon in a long long time) the paper head wouldn't add a 3rd modifier.

If it helps, I'm using the Unleashed modpack. And what exactly does a capacitor do? I'm not real informed on what every mod does, so...

I am unsure about this functionality is in the 1.5 version, but you might want to look at updating GravitationSuite and make the Advanced Diamond drill. In newer versions it has a mode with the same functionality as TiCo hammers with the bonus of working as an excavator at the same time(will also remove dirt, gravel etc.). When enchanted it becomes lightning fast and uses little power.

Thanks for the response, but I tried one of those before. The reason why I like the hammer and TiC all together is because the diversity and the choices the mod gives you.

RF addon.

Cobalt head (faster than manellyn, less durability).
Thaumium rod
Paper heads

Redstone all the way baby.

I use three hammers, with all 4 parts made out of Ardite, so that stacks into 8x Stonebound. When the hammer loses durability, it becomes lightning fast.

Then I add one silky touch (my preference) and put redstone on for all the rest (Haste).

I go out and mine with the hammer until it is down to one durability point (or close enough), then I add one final upgrade (with diamond/gold block), I install a hardened flux capacitor on the hammer.

This leaves you with a lightning fast hammer that can be recharged in an Energetic Infuser.

So I said I had three hammers... they're all the same. I have an Enderpouch hooked up to the Energetic infuser, when I use up one of my hammers, I drop it into the enderpouch. When the energetic infuser is done, it puts the fully charged hammer back into the enderpouch. The reason I need three of these hammers is because the charge runs out fairly quickly (it's the price paid for a lightning speed hammer). So while I'm mining with one hammer, another one is charging and the third one is sitting there ready for when I need to switch.

that sounds pretty interesting o_O.... Well, according to NEI, I don't have a flux capacitor, nor a leadstone energy cell because Unleashed doesn't have TE3 in it. therefore going for the setup you have isn't even possible >.<

Check if you can add the IC2 upgrade to the tool. I think it was a battery and a circuit. It will run on IC2 power, gets resupplied from an Advanced Jetpack or MPS Armor and you can recharge it in an MFE or MFSU if necessary. For some reason the IC2 power upgrade also lasts longer than the TE version, just another nice bonus.

I think that was removed after 1.5.2. I haven't tested it, but it no longer exists in the books, as of 1.6.4.

The circuit + battery is still in the game, my pickaxe runs off of that, and the hammer I've just made has the moss. I've tried using the circuit+battery on a hammer but for some reason, it breaks instantly no matter what I've done.. Not sure if I have a corrupt file or something, but I've just been using moss on hammers, an EU on pickaxes since I only use the pick for fortune.& I've been mining for about 2 hours nonstop and it's only at about half.

I know. But @KayteeMunster is playing Unleashed (which is 1.5.2?). The IC2 upgrade should still be in there, it was removed in early 1.6.4.
Yes, it's still in the game.

If you have TTKami installed, make a Awakened Ichor Pick. 5x5 mining, AND you get acess to the Bedrock Dimension.
