so what i want is the block underneath me to start out has a block obviously but then you press a button or pressure plate and it turns into a crafting table.

if people here wacth Etho you'd know what i mean :)

Thanks

I don't watch any LPs, so I don't know exactly what you mean, but this sounds like a job for Sticky Pistons. One connects to stone, the other to a crafting table, on a redstone signal one of them retracts and the other extends (so one of them has an inverter in the line).

Depends on where you put it. Is it adjacent to a wall? Then it's easy to hide. Is it in the middle of the floor? Then you'll probably need a double piston extender:
Two sticky pistons above each other with the normal floor or the crafting table at the top. When both are extended, that block is flush with the floor. On button press both collapse. At the level two below the floor are two horizontal sticky pistons, one is extended, the other collapsed and has the other block in front of it. Now they switch who is extended. With this the block on top of the double piston extender has switched. Now the double pistons extends and the new block is flush with the floor. Similar to switch back to the first block.
