Hi All,

I go to boarding school meaning I live at my school and in my free time after I have completed my set work, as well as on Sundays when I still stay at school but have nothing to do, I would like to be able to play FTB. It works at home perfectly well, but when I am at school the launcher stops working, and all I see is the screen reading:

'Please wait while mods are being loaded'

This is very annoying. So I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong, and whether I need to ask the school technicians to help with administrator setting and the like, or if I could fix the problem myself.

Thanks for any help.

First off if this is not your computer and it is the schools, it is common courtesy to ask before downloading anything onto it. Second is this a computer that you are the only one using or is this a computer that others will be accessing as well? The admins might have disabled this some how. If you could post a console log to pastebin.com we could have a look at what might be causing the error. Look here for info about logs.

It's my own laptop, sorry for not specifying, I totally understand what you meant though. I can't use paste bin but I can copy and paste the log here:

Did you just copy over the folder or did you download the launcher and the packs onto the laptop? If you copied it over try downloading them. Also use this guide to install the launcher the recommended way. You only need to download it once from there you can play offline if you wish.

They were downloaded, but I have followed the guide anyway for a fresh start. After reinstalling, I went into the Roaming file to find that the mod-packs folder is now empty. Perhaps the school is blocking the downloads?

If your modpack folder is in the roaming folder then you didn't follow my instruction ;)

The school could be blocking the download.

Doesn't the ftb launcher automatically put it's own files in my roaming? These aren't the complete mod packs that are missing, only the files that allow them to be shown as options.

Please read the guide that lav linked.
Yes, it puts the files there, but optimally, your FTB.exe will be in a folder on your desktop, or some other direct file path.

Right. The .exe is in a file on the desktop called FTB, which is also the install directory for modpacks. Here is my current log:

Hi all, sorry for the long time no reply, school has been hectic with a whole new timetable to get used to. But you don't want to hear that, so let's get to the point:

So I asked my resident school technicians to have a look at the problem, as suggested by Ash, to see if they were blocking the downloads. As it turns out, they are in fact blocking not only downloads, but the whole Minecraft port (25565). I asked to see if they might un-block it, and they said no sadly. So I cannot play FTB. In it's stead however, I have decided to take on the task of creating my own mod-pack, so that I could play using the Minecraft launcher, which works despite the school's security system. Don't worry, I am not going to distribute the pack, that would be a jerk-move. Anyway, I would like to thank everyone quickly for all the support on here and the time you've given up to help me out. Cheers guys :)
