We've been playing for a while now on a server with Tech world 1.2.0 installed, and yesterday the server admin informed us about his willingness to change the server to use the Ultimate modpack.

Is it possible to just straight copy over the current Tech world 1.2.0 world to the new Ultimate server and continue using it? If there'll be world corruptions etc I think it's just better to start from scratch. Does anyone have any experience about this?

Of course in order to find new ores and blocks we'd have to go to new chunks, but I'm just asking from a technical point of view. It'd be a shame to waste all our progress and start from scratch. :)

First off, I cannot speak from experience on this one. That said, it looks like Tech world is a subset of Ultimate.

You can do a quick compatibility test yourself. Basically, try to connect to your Tech world server using the Ultimate client.

You will have to do one thing first though for that to work. Mine Factory Reloaded (part of Ultimate pack) overwrites some base item ids. You either remove the mod, or you edit its config (MFReloaded.cfg) and set the lines "B:VanillaOverride.GlassPanes=false" and "B:VanillaOverride.Ice=false".

Good luck.
