Upgrading computer

So my render distance is at 9 chunks and I have allocated 6 gb to it and it use about 60-70% from looking at it

6gb is way too much, that could explain your drops in fps. Too much ram causes java's garbage collection to crap all over itself and ruin performance.

Try 2gb.

2-3gb is optimal. 60-70% usage is fine. I would start at 2 and play it for a while, and see where your fps averages.

also make sure you're running fastcraft, not sure if those packs you play come with it installed.
