Updating Servers

What is the correct way to update a server without losing the player's morphs and inventory?
What files do you keep when you snatch the new version?

All you need is to add the new mods in the Mods folder, and check configs (if anything screws up).

Ok, my players lost all their morphs and some players lost their inventory when I did that. Im going to update to 1.0.9 of Direwolf20 pack and see if there is any issues.

I was just thinking about asking this. I ran into a GUI bug with thaumcraft and i decided to update my client to 1.0.9 from 1.0.7 and it fixed it until i turned the resource pack on. Which is the beta soartex one. So now im thinking i should just update my server to 1.0.9 anyways, but i have a bunch of the config files modified that i really dont want to go back through.
