Hello all,

As Im sure many of you do. I install various mods ontop of the modpack im using such as optifine, armor status hud etc.

However When a modpack updates it loses all the info about the mod's you have installed overtop install overtop through the edit mod's button.

I suggest that in the same window as "and update is avaliable. Do you wish to update". That there be small checkbox. "attempt to reintegrate added mods" Or similar. Then it launches the instance with the mods you originally had installed. If it comes up with any crash then it instantly uninstalls those mods again untill you manually sort it out. Otherwise you dont have to readd all the mods everytime a pack updates.

Just a small suggestion

Thankyou

I have to agree with this suggestion. I did not realize that updates deleted all your mods and updated my mod pack today. Now I have to go and redownload everything all over again. Luckily, I keep a backup of all of my config files.

I also agree with this, I now have had to re-add mods several times to the modpacks due to updating them and losing those mods.

I suggest using multimc or something similar if you're doing this. That way you are in control of what is installed, and of any updates you choose to make.

Multimc now has an option specifically to import from your ftb installed packs, making the whole process very simple. You can then create a new instance when you want to update the pack if you want to, and keep your old instance intact in case of any issues.

I generally make a multiMc instance as a backup. But the whole point of being able to edit mod's inside the launcher is to eradicate the need for any external applications. Also that has the same problem with having to make a new instance every time the pack updates. Ive never ran into any problems re adding the mods everytime there is an update. However I merely suggested this as a way to streamline the process. Especially with so many mods updating so frequently. The packs are likely to update quite often. Within the same minecraft version therefore alot of the time all the mod's you add in the first place should work post-update.
