I combined some of the mods from the mindcrack pack into the DW20 and I was wondering if it's possible to update the DW20 pack without the launcher removing the extra mods i added myself.

Absolutely. You'll want MultiMC. Then when you click on the drop-down menu for 'create a new instance' you can either Import FTB Pack or Import from Folder, and browse to your Direwolf20 folder. Then just play on that instance, and you're golden.

No, but you can just back them up and copy them back over after it updates.

I added Rei's minimap to v1 of DW's pack, and when I updated to v2 it was still there. The config had been reset but all my map markers were left. Don't know if it would apply to all mods though!

Rei's Minimap was actually added in version2. So what you added was deleted, but it installed it with the modpack.

I think they know that. They seem to be pointing out that even though it deleted the mod, it didn't delete the settings.

If this is the case, then there's no real reason to back up mods which it removes. You just need to add them back in and it should keep it the same. Make sure you do it before loading/saving the game though or it might clear stuff out.

Actually he said the config was reset... The mapmarkers weren't, but that's because they're not saved in the normal config folder and a fresh installation doesn't try to add them. Anyways when i said back up I meant so you don't have to download it again :p

Yeah. It makes sense to remove the mod itself, as it may not be compatible. Some mods use their own style of settings though, and it may not remove those.

As for backups, I didn't really consider that, since I download all of my mods to a specific place that's outside of the launcher, so it's not going to delete them there anyways. =P

Oh! I didn't know that actually. And I didn't consider it since DW20 has stated he doesn't like minimaps so I thought that it would never be added to his pack. Thanks for clearing things up!
