I hate having accounts on all kinds of random forums, so I figured this would be the best place to ask, even though I'm using an updated GregTech version that isn't in FTB atm.

I just kind figure out how to make this 'industrial blast furnace' and in this version you NEED it for the rock cutter! The wiki says I have to look into the GUI to see how to make this thing and the machine casing. I placed an industrial blast furnace and looked in the GUI. The GUI shows 4 layers on the left like this: (X = grey, Y= red, Q = green)

I just can't figure out what it means. I am quite sure grey is the machine casing. I tried red to be blast furnaces and green power input, I tried red being air and green power furnace, but neither works.

Anyone know how to make an industrial blast furnace..?

Grey = any machine casings
Red = empty spot
Green = Furnace block

Grade of casings will determine heat capacity of the furnace, f.e. standard casings will only allow you to smelt steel. No idea if you can mix and match different casings.
Also, you need constant 128Eu/T applied to furnace or it wont work.

Basically it's a layer by layer blueprint. Furnace should be placed at the base of the construction.

Actually if you replace the red slots with lava it increases it's heat capacity. I was playing around with it and found that out. It was at 1520 heat capacity with just standard casings that way. Not sure I like how expensive it is to make the blast furnace itself though. Nickel isn't cheap it turns out.

You can get a lot of nickel after you build industrial grinder, it's a byproduct of iron, gold and copper ore processing.

Except the industrial grinder is a multiblock structure and uses the advanced casing, along with the standard casing, which require steel from a blast furnace. This just leaves you centrifuging away 2 stacks of iron dust to get the tiny piles of nickel.

You can use Railcraft blast furnace, of course you'd need nether bricks for it and magma cream, but it's not bad.
Check out latest version if you want to see expensive, you need special machine to make iridium plates now.

I have the blast furnace for steel, but the NEI recipe only shows industrial blast furnace for the Titanium that rock cutters need. :(

Thanks for all your help though, guys, I'm going to my test world quickly and if I get it working, it'll be time to get ALL my resources together xD

You have 2 choices:
1: create blast furnace to make steel, use steel to make grinder, get nickel from grinder, create industrial blast furnace for titanium
2: get nickel from centrifuge, create blast furnace, make steel, create grinder and advanced casings for industrial blast furnace to make titanium.
Both ways are viable, it's up to you to choose which one you want.

Does it require advanced casings? The normal machine casing is probably cheaper, right?

Yea, I plan to use the Railcraft steel to skip to the grinder, but I was wanting to see how the mod did balanced it alone. Until I realized you could get tiny piles of nickel from the centrifuge of iron, copper, and gold I thought you had to go to the End, get the ores, macerate it into platinum, and centrifuge that into nickel. Which would be excessive to get a blast furnace which you now need to make solar panels because the silicon cells aren't enough.[DOUBLEPOST=1355158069][/DOUBLEPOST]Titanium requires a heat capacity of 1500 which you can get with the standard casing + 2 lava source blocks inside the center.

I just tested it and the lava source blocks in the center of standard casing worked for me!
