Update killed my worlds

I managed to find them, but I'm not sure where to put them.

Will there be an entirely new updated Horizons folder, or is it somewhere in the original?B

There was an update to FTB. I thought the update 'killed' my worlds. I checked the Horizons folder, and my worlds were still there. However. They are not available in-game.

The launcher (after updating) mentioned in a popup that it was not recommended to put ftb folders under the /user folder branch (at least I think that's what it said) I think the new launcher puts the files in a different place.
Just guessing there.

You should ALWAYS backup worlds before updates.

The worlds aren't gone. I have all of the files; I just don't know where to put them.

Check directories. I am surprised people do not know this just put it in the saves folder. Take them from current directory to specified directory that you set in ftb launcher. Not much to explain besides the worlds may be incompatible/corrupted.
