6701. Yeah, that’s a lot better than someone who wants to derail things. I heard good things about Pathfinder, and I’m told that while 5E simplifies some things it has more of a feel of 2E than 4E.
6709 Yeah, 5E reverted a lot of the changes of 4E, and went back to a more 2E system, but thankfully didn’t add back in THAC0 and Race-Class Restrictions.

6710. Oof yeah THAC0 was not a great system :p likewise Race-class stuff. I actually quite liked the addition of an Unaligned alignment, as that represented most people a lot more accurately.

6171 Yeah, the addition of Unaligned was nice, when it was in 5E. I wasn’t too much of a fan of 4E alignment system, but I think 5E did it the best. However, I usually don’t use the alignment system, or if I do I heavily modify it

6715. I think the important thing about the alignment system is not to see it as a yoke or prison to be held by.

6716 Yeah, I know that it’s not, but I’ve played with people who did (hint: They played a stereotypical paladin) and ever since then I’ve kinda not been using it.

6718. Ohh that is the worst. “Lawful Stupid” is a phrase I’ve heard used about folks like that. I’ve heard a paladin played well, but a lot of folks don’t seem to get the nuance. A great example of a decently played Paladin is in the 3rd season of the Dice Funk podcast; the character Rolen Hawklight. That said, they were being a “Justiciar”, a modified paladin whose key stat was intelligence instead of charisma.

6719 "Lawful Stupid" can work, but it depends on the game being ran. If it's a silly, stupid game, then it's fine.
