  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Launcher Type Other

Modpack Sky Factory 3

Modpack version newest

Have you modified the pack? No

Details of the issue I'm unable to play Skyfactory 3, it freezes up on the loading screen. The log link will show the 6 errors and the 380 warnings, but the one I'm focusing on first is that Java is blocked by my firewall, and I have Windows 10 but it's controlled by Norton. My laptop is only a year old, an Acer Predator 17 with Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M and so I'm sure that's all good and up to date. (updated drivers to be sure) I also have the most recent Twitch app installed. I saw where the required Java was blocked, but nothing I clicked would unblock it. I've went through these forums searching for any hint of this happening to anyone else and could not find it. (sorry if I missed it due to the title of the post not addressing this issue.)

Minecraft was recently installed so it's the latest version, I've also successfully installed SkyFactory 2 and played it, then realized it was not the version I wanted to play. (since uninstalled that one.) I'm not tech savvy, I just want to escape into a fun game, can anyone give some advice? I'll try everything. Thanks!

Driver version of your GTX 980M is...?
says in the log file 376.54 what is around 6 months old so it might be worth updating the driver also do you have MSI afterburner at all i had issues a while back that it stopped most packs from working

So two things.. First make sure you have the latest 64 bit java installed on your system. Can't tell from the log file if you do or not. Second, use the gear icon in the lower left of twitch/curse to get into the settings and select the Minecraft tab from the list on the left. Under Lauch Method select Jar Launcher. That will switch you from using java 8 update 25 to the java installed on your system. That should fix all of the java warnings.

The java version that comes with the minecraft launcher (and thus with the twitch launcher) is supposed to be the correct one. Its what minecraft is build against and what mods are recommended to be build against. There may be edge cases where it will solve things but I doubt that this is one of them.

When looking at the log myself this line caught my eyes
Memory: 190722064 bytes (181 MB) / 743964672 bytes (709 MB) up to 2863661056 bytes (2731 MB)
This says that minecraft only can use 2GB of RAM total. This is not enough to play the game. If your PC has enough RAM I recommend to give it 4 GB instead. I am not sure where to change this in the twitch launcher as I do not use this nor can I install it to check as it doesn't support Linux.

If you haven't done so, update your NVIDIA drivers. See if it crashes afterwards.
