Unable to update minecraft native launcher when using curse

Details of the issue:
After installation of the modpack when "Play" is pressed the native launcher begins to download but is interrupted with a message stating "unable to update minecraft native launcher". Through my anti-virus on my computer I have made the anti-virus to ignore curse and minecraft. I also tried to uninstall minecraft completely off my computer and curse and redownloaded both programs from their corresponding websites. These did not seem to have any effect on the issue. I also am running the latest version of java.​
