Now, i have an error which involves being unable to launch FTB, as i get the "IO exception, minecraft servers may be down" error, which means i am unable to play the game. This is growing extremely frustrating, as it happened after clearing my java out and redownloading. Vanilla MC is also not working, and i have no fix as of yet.
If anyone has an idea how to fix this annoying error, please reply to this thread.
Can i reproduce: Every Time.
However, trying to update to another java causing a crash which says i need a better runtime enviroment.
EDIT: upon updating to JRE7_045 i am no longer able to launch the launcher with "this application requires a java runtime enviroment 1.6.0"

Please post a console log. The only reason you might need to use Java 6 is if you are using a Mac and unable to install Java 7 due to it requiring a newer OS version.

See, i neglected to post a log as it doesent seem to show much. However, here you go :D Pastebin:http://pastebin.com/43knedYf
Now, it says i have multiple java but please understand, for the last two days i have only just fixed my java due to wiping it. I am not inclined to try and uninstall it again because of the aggravation it caused me.
NOTE: The servers are NOT down, as i have repeatedly checked.

Yea i am having a similar issue and its extremely frustrating, I know that i am not being affected by my firewalls because i am tearing them down. Btw does anyone know how to get Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security to not freak the hell out about ftb

I have completely torn down my firewalls, and i can play on it, however i really don't want to keep doing that. I have added every modpack, the java SE Binary and everything that says java on it as well as minecraft, minecraft launcher, and minecraft exe to the exeption lists and it still won't run without my firewalls coming down.

However i digress, the issue I've come here for is the one about the IOException, which has been plaguing me since yesterday afternoon, in the morning i was able to play the game, but somewhere along the line something broke and now i am unable to complete my mansion that i was working on[DOUBLEPOST=1389125139][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry for the double post however i think I may have stumbled onto something, I haven't gotten anything to work however in the console it say's this,"Unrecognized Windows Sockets error. 87: create:java.net.SocketException:," This repeats a couple of times and then it says, "Logging in..." then "IOException, minecraft servers might be down. Check @ help.mojang.com"

Well, at least your one gives you an error. From what you can see, my error does not show anything... Its really annoying, and im wondering why it happened. I cant even launch vanilla mc either, since the play button is grayed out. If anyone can help i'd be very grateful :D

<script src="http://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=tThTVEHj"></script> this is my paste bin for the console if that helps anyone

Well i went to minecraft and tried logging in again to see if i could get an error message, and what is got was" Unrecognized Windows Sockets error: 87: create" and the messaged fades out it is the same error that i got on my console when i tried to login to ftb

Does anyone know what this error 87 is and what i can do to fix it, i feel it maybe what is causing the issues

Thanks for your reply henry, but i havent heard back from the mcforum yet. This is sooo aggravating as it only started happening after i uninstalled my java to fix another FTB Error. Its really annoying me now that i cant play my fav game, and i hope someone may have a fix for me.

Have you tried adding an exception to your antivirus as Jangofet54 did? If not try adding the FTB folder, that should be on your desktop, to the exceptions list of your antivirus program. Also when you reinstalled Java did you follow the basic troubleshooting guide? If not try it without reinstalling the Java and see what happens. I normally would suggest reinstalling Java as well, but try it without doing that first as you said you are tired of doing that.

Not sure as I've never used it. It should be your log in here. Though again I've never used it.

This might be weird, but i have no antivirus actually installed at this time. And, on firewall, i have Java binary set to allow public and private connections. Ive also tried turning off the firewall but to no avail. I will try again, and see if it makes a difference!

Well, all evidence now points towards my old uninstallation of java. I repeat, i will not reinstall java after the pain it caused me before. But, i could run minecraft before i uninstalled it, And after reinstallation i cant even run vanilla, ftb or any other launcher. The others just refuse to load, and FTB gives me that same error. Ive tried most fixes, but absoloutely nothing... This is extremely depressing now, and i dont see what i am doing wrong :(

See, when i uninstalled java, i cleaned it all using a combination of myself, javara and registry editor. I ensured every little scrap was gone, and then i reinstalled. I still dont see why i get this error, and im wondering if i need a certain version of java to fix it. Thanks for the advice though!

You're welcome.

To be perfectly honest, if I were at your point I'd chuck it all and reformat =P It sounds like something got goofed permanently in your registry, or elsewhere in your deep network settings, that's preventing any connection to the MC login servers, and 99% of the time that's just waaaaaaay too much of a hassle to troubleshoot. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that a Socket Error 87 is generated by your OS and it usually means that some other process is already using the port that your application (MC, in this case) is trying to open.

Hrrrrrrm. That gives me a thought, although it's not something you'll usually see on these forums. There's a chance I could find something in an HJT log: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

See, i read somewhere else that they fixed it by "updating to new java", but i have Java 7 update 45 64 bit installed. Also, are you experienced at finding things in HJT logs. I dont want to install something that does help me in a way. Sorry to be so protective, but after nearly breaking my computer due to uninstalling and reinstalling, im trying my best not to screw anything else up.

Now, heres an updated pastebin: http://pastebin.com/GWNuFKzD
Ive noticed that it says i have 4 java versions installed, when Programs and Features only shows two. Im very confused but i dont want to mess with java at this moment. Is this causing it?[DOUBLEPOST=1389213644][/DOUBLEPOST]UPDATE: Busted, when i tried to launch vanilla MC i got an error stating

I believe that this JCE java related item may be causing it. Hope this helps!
