So it is not being released as a Beta pack for 1.5.1?
There is no ETA for the official 1.5.1 Beta Pack - per slowpoke101's livestream today. Its not coming today, there's no future date, its not coming. You'll have to cobble it together yourself if you want mods in 1.5 or wait for either the official 1.6 FTB release or a newer announcement concerning 1.5

*cough* http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/1-5-1-beta-pack-diy-edition.19527/ *cough*

Note, I have not tried, nor do I recommend importing a 1.4.7 world to this pack. Significant differences (lack of RP2, inclusion of Tinker's Construct and Ars Magica) would probably make that problematic.

So if I were to create a new world using this pack, converting this world to the official pack that contains RP2 (whenever that may be) would probably be a problem. In that case, it seems the best option for me would be to wait until 1.6 or whenever the next offical release of the pack is so I don't have to risk problems occuring from conversions.

Well, that's unknowable without any information about what's going into a 1.6 pack. Adding RP2 would be significantly less disruptive than deleting it, as you could use a Mystcraft age for world gen. That said, there will always be risks migrating worlds between versions. The only way to assure stability is to never change. So the question is really at what point does your desire to play with new mods/new features outweigh your desire to keep your creations?
