I got me a nifty little TBM setup. It's my first time playing around with frames and now I see why all the cool kids are doing it. I got a chunk loader (chicken bones edition) on the TBM and tried a few different settings to keep chunks loaded. However, by the time I get back to my evil laboratory it stops running a few minutes later. The TBM starts moving again as soon as I'm in range.

Is there something that I'm over looking or should try doing different?

Thank you.

I've had a similar problem and I seem to have more luck with using the Railcraft World Anchor. Even then, it's still sometimes intermittent. I've had problems where you set the bore going, leave, and it keeps running for say 5 minutes and then stops again. Catching up to it can be a real pain.

CB chunkloaders don't work when moved by frames. (even though it says so on his forum post)
I'm using a chunkloading mining turtle which places a CB chunkloader.
The program looks basically like this: place down chunkloader, pulse redstone (to move TBM), pick up chunkloader, move forward, ....
The only thing you have to be carefull about is that you don't shut down the server while the CB chunkloader isn't placed, because the chunkloading turtle doesn't seem to force the chunk to be loaded on server start - the CB chunkloader does.
For this purpose I also put a wireless redstone reciever onto my TBM to shut it down. The turtle checks if it recieves a redstone signal before picking up the chunkloader and if it does it just waits.
Works perfectly. (Well until the turtle ran out of fuel 12k blocks out -> R.I.P. TBM -.-)

You can also use a block breaker/deployer combination to remove and replace the chunkloader during the move.

Use any chunk loader other than chickenbones one. Use railcraft world anchors or similar.[DOUBLEPOST=1359626052][/DOUBLEPOST]
Does putting an anchor cart on a track connected to a frame/panel work?
Why not just put the anchor on the frame, saving carts and tracks.

I may have stumbled across something, so I'd be curious to get other players feedback on their particular configuration.

I'm playing my own mod setup, but I'm using the DW20 configuration, so I only have TE Cu and Sn, which means that I need 3 tunnel bores to be able to get sufficient Cu, Sn and Au. Now, the Cu is running West, the Sn is running South, and the Au is running East.

I have frequent problems with the Sn one, but the Cu and Au ones run fine with no attention, so I'm speculating that a chunk loader (or it may be Ender Chest Related) is having problems heading North/South, but is fine East/West.

Can players who have TBM's please post the directions that they're running in as well as if they are working fine with RC World Anchors.

SOLVED:
Don't let a redstone signal hit the Railcraft World Anchor. When they receive a redstone signal, they turn off.

Sorry to necro, but I used managers to keep my world anchors stocked with enderpearls and I forgot about them shutting off with redstone signal from the manager. Much swearing was heard, I had to remove the entire bore structure to access the loader.
