Hi folks!

I was playing around with some of the railcraft and steve's carts stuff the other night. I tried to use the tunnel bore with a steve's carts torch-placer being pulled behind, but I found the torches were not being placed. As the tunnel bore digs a 3x3 corridor, I'm wondering if the tunnel is too wide for the torch-placer?

Or must something else have been going wrong? Is there any way to automate torch placement when using a tunnel bore?

I tried to put a torch placer behind my steve's carts tunnel bore and found out that the torch placer needs an engine to work, then it messes up the train when it tries to turn around. I ended up sending the torch placer down the track alone occasionally to light it up.

Well the tunnel bore is RC and the torch placer is SC so while similar they aren't from the same mod. A better scenario would be a galgadorian cart with a gal drill, railer, torch placer all on one cart so it would take care of it all in one. Quite expensive tho, another scenario would be having a reinforced drill going down with a railer on it, when it returns it would pass over a advanced detector that would trigger a torch layer with a shooter module attached to go down and light up the area and take out any mobs along the way. When it returns it would trigger the drill to head back down.

Steves carts is very configurable when thinking out of the box

I tried to fit everything I wanted in a reinforced hull which was irritating enough to make and took an hour and a half to cook in the assembler. I couldn't get the torch placer and have liquid removal in the same cart.

That's why I had two carts, and even linked with a steve's cart with a drill on it they won't share an engine. So now I have the drill and all the clearing stuff in a cart with a simple anchor cart chained to it. I run the torch placer later when I'm ready to check on it.

Steve's Carts used to be a lot of fun, but the new crafting and the ridiculous wait times means I'm not going to bother with it again. I could have just mined out and placed the track myself faster and with less aggravation.

You summarized why I don't use the mod anymore. It's a shame, it's a neat mod. Even good guy Direwolf had to check his frustration with SC2 in today's episode.

I just let the tunnel bore run with the torch placer behind it on it own power. Ya they hit each other but it's not a big deal to me. Running them both now or one at a time makes no difference to me as I still use the same amount of fuel. This way I don't have to clear out mobs. Still need to babysit it tho since TBMs can't handle liquids.
