Trying to make the Sonar Goggles...

But the Unstable Ingots keep blowing up. I tried using Applied Energistics to make them, but they don't craft.

Is there a safe way to make the items and if so, are there any videos showing the process? I looked, but couldn't find any.
 
You just have to work faster and never leave the crafting bench once you make the unstable ingots. That's the whole gimmick for unstable ingots, work fast or else!
 
I tried it so many times that I found there's no way to make those goggles. The ingot blow up too fast. 10 seconds is not enough time to make 4 Unstable Ingots and place them down before they explode.

Using the pocket crafting table can speed up the process a bit by letting you clear the crafting grid with the x key. Holding down left click to spread out your ingots rather than dropping them in place individually is a must.

If you're just getting frustrated and want to bypass the whole unstable ingot mechanic, you could always cheat in a pair of glasses with NEI.

Yeah, by the time I got a division symbol I already had a really nice TC hammer, so it was just faster to keep mining than stop and look for hidden ores.

Will try that...the pocket crafting table, not the cheating in part.
 
Use NEI, search for the goggles' recipe.
Have 2 Eye of Ender, 4 Diamonds, 4 Iron Ingots and the activated sigil in your inventory.
Interact with the crafting table, place the sigil in the middle, 4 Iron Ingots in the middle spot of top row and 4 Diamonds in the middle spot of the bottom row.
Now, shift click the results. You should get 4 ingots in your inventory, then shift click the sigil to remove it from the crafting table's interface.
Now, click on the goggles' recipe and shift click on the <?> so NEI will autoplace the ingots and eyes into the crafting table for you. Shift click the goggles out of the crafting results. There, Sonar Goggles.

Oh yeah, I use so many non-standard crafting things I always forget that NEI can just put stuff in for you.
 
Tried the shift click thing with the Unstable Ingots and it doesn't work. Tried it with the parts for a piston and it works. So there's something in the mod that's preventing NEI from functioning properly.
 
I know for a fact you can make multiple ingots at once via shift-clicking. I've done it and I've seen multiple videos where DireWolf20 has done it.

I think he's talking about the NEI shift-click functionality, not shift-click crafting.
 
if you feel like... taking the easy route, I noticed if you uncraft items using the unstable ingots using the Twilight Forest's uncrafting table, the ingots will not blow up.
this means if you uncraft any of the gazillion buildings wands you find in chests, or craft them yourself as they're the easiest to craft, just uncraft them again with the uncrafting table to get the non-blowing ingots. but don't try to uncraft the unstable ingots themselves, or you'll be drowning yourself in sigils :P
