Trying to find Green Slimes.

OK, after using MCEdit to remove everything around my base, Green Slimes did start spawning. I'm definitely in a Slime Chunk...so will have to do lots of caving or set up a Quarry and mine everything out. Thanks for your help.

OR find a slime island and get a slimy sapling... The trunks of the "tree" that grows is made of slime blocks, by far the easiest method of getting slimes

Can those trees drop saplings?

Last time I got slimes via slime chunk they didn't really spawn until I made the room as big as the chunk (actually I think it was 4 chunks lol). Also, I think torches affected their ability to spawn, so I put jack o'lanterns in the floor but that might be an old issue. You want their room lit at any rate.

Yes. And this is definitely the better way. The last time I used the slime chunk method was back in 1.4 I think

Yes, just break the leaves... I *think* they need to be planted on the slimy dirt the island is made from

No, just normal dirt unless that's a config thing
