I got the modpack a couple days ago and have been using the mindcrack pack. I made a quarry and got it set up, but then found I needed to power it with an engine of some kind. I made redstone engines and connected them to it and turned them on. So, I figured I needed a power source, so I decided to make water mills. It would seem i read the recipe wrong though. I thought it required Aluminum, not Aluminium, and I have NO clue how to get that without using power that I do not have.

TL;DR I need to know the absolute easiest way to get Aluminium.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You may be mixing energy types. The quarry wants MJ, whereas the water mills output EU. Two different systems.
The Redstone engines will generate MJ, but not at a rate that the quarry wants. Try a different engine (Peat is a lot of fun, as is steam).

As for the aluminium, that will come from Bauxite ore, ground into bauxite dust, then processed by an industrial electolyzer. I've been staying away from EU for a while, so I don't know the best way to get power to the electolyzer (powered by EU)

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Actually Redstone engine were changed so they no-longer power certain machines (such as the quarry) or generate power in energy pipes.

Also Quarries use a lot of energy, so you'll want several higher tier engines, like combustion, biogas, magmatic or steam power.

As for confusing your energy types, generators produce Eu (Industerialcraft power), Engines produce MJ (Buildcraft power).
Quarries take up to 50MJ/t, and you wont make much progress until their running on at least 10MJ/t. (you'll need several engines)

you should make a magmatic engine. (Runs on lava). You can transfer lava from the nether and to your base where you store all the lava in a tank.

To get lava from the nether you need 2 liquid transponser, pump, and ender chest. It cost much. but it is worth it! alot of easy energy!

Watch youtube for more detailed!

And a quarry only need 9 MJ to run full speed!! So 3 magmatic engine will get you there. or 2

10MJ was the old value any of the modpacks on version 1.4.6 or later (mindcrack is one) have the new quarry which has a limit of 44MJ before diminishing returns kicks in (but will still accept more and use it just less effectively) I believe, I could be completely wrong about the value there but I'm not wrong about quarries cheerfully accepting and utilising more than 10MJ :)

Ignorance is easily curable even though it is one of the most contagious diseases around.

Everyone should try to do their part to prevent this deadly disease from spreading any more than it already does.

Not very helpful there guy... a simple it has been changed to around 50 MJ and the more power the faster it goes would have been alot more helpful and less....hmmm not helpful :p

I think it is just as helpful as people posting completely incorrect information constantly.

I power quarries exclusively with Redstone energy cells these days. So much easier. I rarely go beyond the default size, though.
