Trouble making rum

I've recently turned my hand to brewing. As I don't have hops yet, I started with rum. Easy enough - booze barrel on a scaffold, chuck in half a stack of sugar cane, leave it to brew. It's been brewing 2 RL days now - plenty of time. But when I tried to stick the treetap in, nothing happened. It just wouldn't go in. What's going on?

No - according to the wiki, and any other information I could find, it needs sugar cane and no other ingredients.

No, since it is IC2, it has to be water cells

Water cells are not needed to make rum, it should only be sugarcane necessary.

What do you mean by "wouldn't go in"? If you placed your booze barrel on a scaffold, no matter what's inside it or how long it has been brewing, it should place the treetap. Was it an unused treetap?

I just tested, as well as read Alblaka's post about the new brewing system from about a year ago, both confirm rum is made only through sugar cane, no water cells.

Aye, just tried to put water cells in - they wouldn't go in either.
I mean I crafted a brand new treetap, right clicked on the barrel with it, and absolutely nothing happened. Simple as that.

FIX:

If a user crafts a tap then it cannot be placed but if an admin gives a tap it is able to be placed on a brewing barrel.

No wonder my brewing attempts were a failure.

You can try crafting the tap with an autocrafting system as those will not have a damage value, just like one an admin would give.

Alright I have found a fix for this, when you craft a treetap it has a -1 damage value on it, you must use it once on a rubber tree or something, and you'll be able to then use it o a booze barrel, pretty annoying but that's how it is.

Yah - there's a weird bug where if you have a newly crafted treetap, it won't tap any barrels until you use it once on a tree. (Or cheat it in, I've heard works).
