Hi, I have FTB Lite and I can't get my trees to pollinate. I am in a forest environment with meadows bees, I have birch and oak trees surrounding them, the bees are flying around and planting new flowers, it's close to my house so the chunk is not unloading and it has been a couple of minecraft days. Is there anything else that needs to be done? Should I get different bees or does the process just take a very long time?

FTB lite is a fairly old pack. Which Forestry version is that? Anyway, some general tips:

- Basic bees are slowest at pollinating, only the high end species are decently fast. Use more bees or breed better ones.
- The pollination area is huge. Double to triple the range in which flowers are created. Check trees that are further away.
- If you have mostly oaks with only a few birches, most pollination attempts will be oak-oak, which does nothing. Try and make sure you have a roughly equal amount of birches to oaks (to be precise, it's the number of leaf blocks that matters).

For any tree breeding I would breed bees at least to rural.
Also I would clear-cut the area to only have the two trees you are breeding.

I'm not sure what the version is for forestry. The mod list just says forestry for minecraft. I'll give the suggestions a try.

Lite was last updated on Jan 23rd:
changelog said:
Updated Forestry-A-2.0.0.11

So you should have the early version of tree breeding. Best bet is to go through the ranks of bees. Personally, I had best results with a row of apiaries (about 10, if I recall correctly), while purifying the bee strains.

Leaves don't visually update as being mutated for some reason, at least in unleashed 1.1.4, it is annoying to say the least. Spend all that time waiting, then you have no f'n idea that they did...

You can use mundane bees to breed, just might take a bit longer. They do however work.

That's because in more recent versions, Forestry requires you to wear specific headgear to see them, possibly done to reduce the need to do special rendering all the time for every person in the area.

Look up "spectacles" in NEI. Alternatively, if you're a little deeper into bees already, the apiarist's hat has the same feature integrated.

I thought industrious bees were the first with a pollenation trait. Did this change?

All do, just some are faster. Industrious are faster than mundane, rural are fastest of the easiest available.

You may also need more bees.
I got my trees to cross breed fine, but I also had 18 hives running

Yeah, I use between 5 and 14 at my 3 tree breeding areas.
My latest one I had 4 Rural and 1 industrious and had almost all leaves turned after 3 cycles.

Bee house triples pollination rate. Pop one of the above-mentioned pollinating bees in there and boom.
