After struggling to find much information on trees (particularly after 1.5.2) I decided to type out as much information I could find in game with the help of Nei Addons as well as the Treealyzer to create a list of stats for quick reference. I also did some testing of my own in an effort to create the best tree for a biofuel farm.

I want this thread to contain all possible information that could be used for creating the best possible trees for both biofuel farms and wood farms.

Also post your best trees here and how you got them.
If you see anything that is incorrect/outdated or should be added let me know. The information below is from 1.5.2.

After much testing it appears that only apples will drop from a tree farm. Lemons/Plums/Cherrys/Walnuts/Chestnuts will only drop from an orchard, and papayas appear to drop from neither, unsure about dates.

That being said the ideal tree for a biofuel tree farm should at least contain apples both as a source of fruit juice and mulch for fermenting sapplings.

Nice! This what I was looking for! I just got Pure Oak Tree sapling with High and High sappiness.
Now I just need to add those another traits like Balsas high Saplings. :D
(This is tedious work)

Nice! I saw your breeding guide abum and your tree species album on imgur.

Did you eventually move away from making your trees a 3x3 trunk? I've been testing a bit lately and noticed that 3x3 trees grow significantly more slowly than their speed trait would indicate because so many adjacent saplings must be fully mature all at the same time. I had already earmarked to look for an opportunity to discuss this ;)
