So it turns out Enderio doesn't have a lot of info online thats up to date.

heres my issue, watching direwolf20 play his regular playthroughs he uses travel anchors without the staff, yet when i stand on a travel anchor it doesnt show any of the other travel anchors up.

Any ideas?
 
They have a smaller range limitation when not using the staff. For example (may not reflect real numbers) it's 12 without staff, 64 with
