Transferring items to and from a specific slot?

I'm working on automating RotaryCraft's extractor. While piping items from different sides doesn't have any different effect, you can insert them into specific slots. I think turtles can do it, but my experiments with OpenPeripherals have been...unsuccessful. I've managed to get it done with 3 routers (2 may work...) in a test world, but I don't have nearly the dark iron for it and upgrades in my survival world.

I've tried using filtered pipes to extract them, but it hasn't seemed to work either.

What other options do I have for something like this?

Hmm, as an idea you could try Applied Energestics Import and Export buses, see how that goes Im not a genius so im not sure if it will.

Factorization routers are the best way I can think of to insert into a specific slot. They require a bit of fiddling and you will need to experiment with which slot is which, but routers are stupidly powerful for that kind of work.

Edit: and reading trips me up again. You already tried routers wheee!

Steves Factory Manager allows you to choose which inventory slot to input and extract from.
