Too much lagspikes

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Too much lagspikes

Launcher Type Twitch Desktop App

Modpack FTB Beyond

Modpack version 1.10.0

Have you modified the pack? Yes

Link to log file

Details of the issue I've installed Optifine.
  • The config of the launcher is set to max of 6144mb of ram (just the line between recommended and HD textures).
  • I have 8 GB of ram
  • My main problem is that i suffer a lot of lag spikes. These lagspikes can last for up to a minute or a bit more! After the long lagspikes, another little lagspike comes.
  • My Minecraft (the modpack) runs at an average of 250 fps normally while playing.
  • I try to close everything, including the twitch app which uses a lot of ram as well as the "other java process that uses a lot of ram but is not needed to play the game". As well as increasing the priority of the game to high and decreasing the priority of the other running aplications.
  • Sometimes my disk usage goes up to 100%
  • I play with a render distance of 4.
...
What other options should I modify so I can play with less and less durable lag spikes, if not, no lagspikes?
Thanks a lot! :D

A. Optifine can cause major issues with modpacks.
B. You are allocating too much ram, especially that your max is 8. Your OS needs a bit of wiggle room. I would recommend dropping it to either 4 or 5 GB.
C. Running at really small render distances can sometimes decrease your fps. My computer isn't all that great, but I still run it at around 8 chunks.
D. Disk usage does this, not much you can do except migrate your instance to an ssd if you have one or get a faster SATA drive.
