I have this post I typed up in a thread that I keep bringing up, it's everything that can be made out of cobblestone (without UUM or EE3). It included things like Iron, Gold, Silver, Diamonds, and Bronze...and a ton more things, of course.

Another idea: you could make a giant E out of iron blocks. Maybe even world-height big.
For maximum iron-e.
