Hey there!
Tompa here with one of those picture Let's plays. This one has been long time coming which I have given a lot of time planning on how I will build things. I just recently put together my dear stationary computer which handles FTB a lot better than my 5-year old laptop.
I will play with a personally modified TPPI pack with the Invictus texture pack which is a continuation of the Soartex pack. I'll try to go for a modern but industrial/laboratory style, the gameplay and building theme being me being an alien on Mineterra trying to understand this blocky world.
There is a intro to the whole picture LP that I feel needs to be said before starting. First of all I started a world with the ATG biome generation. It turns out that Forestry bee hives have a very hard time spawning in conjunction with ATG. This was a sad thing I figured out because I had found this beautiful Autumn forest valley with a big and gorgeous lake in the middle of it. I had big plans for the scene, but I just can't play without bees, seeing I have big plans for them.
That led me to start over with a save with Biomes'o Plenty generation. After an hour or so I found this gorgeous Canyon setting, which will be the site for many scientific deeds hence forth:
As far as progression comes so far:
I will play with what I think is fun to play with, simple as that. MFR biofuel to steam isn't probably the best way to go for a first main way of power, but I will do it nonetheless. I won't, pretty much, play with IC2 at all, but I will have it installed if anything comes up that I'll need. Which takes me to my next point: I uninstalled GregTech from TPPI. Why? I haven't played FTB in a *long* time, and I don't want progress to be hindered by me having to learn all the ins and outs of GT. Maybe for my next playthrough.
A note on 1.6.4 vs 1.7.10+: I decided long before modded 1.7 was real that I was going to do this playthrough, and that's why I stick with it.
I hope you guys will enjoy what I have in store for this picLP =) Have fun!

As far as progression comes so far:
- Mekanism ore tripling
- Mek Armored Jet pack
- Turtle mining in Aroma1997's mining world
- Found a nether fortress
- Set of Redstone Arsenal tools
- Three Mek wind turbines for early game power
- A note on these: they really suck in TPPI when it comes to getting power, really. So I decided on using them as my first and only "set and forget"/easy obtainable power source.
