Tips for a FTB novice.

Right guys I have recently started playing FTB and Im doing pretty well at it got some buildcraft oil power systems going and got a modular power suit up and running and i got all that from direwolf20 smp series listening to his golden voice guide me
through FTB.
But i can't keep using him as a guide and i and others need to be independent, So i was wondering where i would go next and just generally collect some tips and tricks in this thread for newbies like me,and if there's any references some of you guys used when first starting out to make your way through the grind i would be happy if you could post them.
(As reference i am using unleashed by to my knowledge it and ultimate are not to different in terms of mods so any tips for that pack i assume will work here.)

There are many many paths you can go, pick a mod or set of mods that you seem to enjoy and chase it as far down the rabbit hole as you can go.
For me using Tinkers Construct was a game changer as I loved being able to level forests and dig/mine 3x3 swaths of earth in one blow.
Forestry and it's bees and trees are easy to begin early but can be pretty deep. (I also saw my first butterfly but I didn't know how to catch it).

You wont know you enjoy them or not unless you have already played them through. So picking one like that doesnt work. Just go Ultimate and have access to more at once, and go from there.
