I was hoping to find the "best" TiCo tool/weapon combos with actual stats on the items, but it seems the few threads about them are very scattered and filled with a lot of opinion and banter about which is better. Looking purely for stats in an attempt to make myself some "ultimate tinker's construct tools/weapons" as put in the other thread.
TiCo is like an ice cream parlor. When the clerk asks you what you want on your triple scoop cone, it's up to you. Some people want 3 scoops of vanilla, some want almonds on top. Me? I prefer gelato.

Read the in game manuals and try some stuff out. Everyone is going to give you a different answer. I'd mess you up even more because I use Extra TiCo and metallurgy. Tons more materials to use!

I love the extra metals from Metallurgy for TCon. Unfortunately those metals seem to have little-to-no use elsewhere. >.< If they ever do become more useful, I'll need to add that mod just for the fun of even more tools.

It's difficult to gate progression. I found a great excel chart on the extra TiCo MCF thread. The problem is that there's too many metals period. Even with the configs in RR, by the time I get one mid tier metal I'm also swimming in top tier metal in the same mining area. The devs of metallurgy promise a massive reduction I future versions so I'm apt to trust them and see. Meanwhile a haste 2 Beacon with a platinum/tartarite hammer will destroy your fps. ^_^

I don't mind the progression. It's a way to extend TCon past "I've hit the nether, I'm done" state. That's fine. It's the fact that said special metals are kinda useless outside of TCon that has me avoiding it. Lots of resources that'll just stack up and have practically no use for anything else.

My intention was to get specific numbers. Everyone has their opinions, but numbers can give you a better understanding. # Durability, # mining speed, # modifiers, etc..

Jadedcat gave me basically what I was looking for in terms of a straight answer and explanation.

I actually like the Extra TiC because Damascus Steel is cooler looking than regular steel as a tool head, at least in my opinion. That it's simple enough to manufacture also helps, but there you are. Plus I can chew through a fair size mountain range without having to stop and wait for my pick to repair, which is awesome.
