Tinkers Construct problem

So I did Dires neat setup of generating Emeralds by killing villagers in the smeltery.

But it turns out for me that not any kind of metal that is smelted does damage to villagers nor me either...

Is this some config that has changed? :/

Break the controller and place it again (remove any contained liquid first). It bugs out like that sometimes.

Nnnnnope, it doesnt seem to fix it

I have 700mb of lava, and 1000mb of Molten Alunimum brass

Nevermind! Worked on the 4th try!
